Re-post. Don’t get lost

Re-post. July, 2008. Panemunė
Don’t get lost. On a recent leisure’s stroll through the forest I’ve noticed these trees with arrows painted on them, and they reminded me of an exciting hide and seek game from my childhood.

Arrows. Back in time we used to play this “advanced” version of hide and seek called arrows, if I’m not mistaken. The players would split in two teams, one of hiders, and one of seekers. The latter team was usually much smaller. Then the teams would agree on the size of “playground” territory, which could be limited to a couple of streets or be as big as a whole city district or even bigger. Then the hiders would leave the starting point and start looking for a decent place for all of the team members to scatter and hide, while the seekers would stay behind for a predetermined amount of time before starting their pursuit. The difference from a regular hide ‘n’ seek mainly was that the hiders were supposed to mark all their movements by leaving chalk arrows indicating the direction in which they went on their path. When the hiders would find a decent hideout, they would make a “compass” mark, leaving a clue for the seekers, that somewhere nearby the hiders could be found, and then would hide, sometimes all in one place, and sometimes scattered in that chosen territory, to wait to be found.
Some even more advanced hide ‘n’ seek
games included using public transportation. In that case the hiders were supposed to leave a chalk mark with a trolley or a bus number before embarking on a vehicle, and then another one upon descending, so that the seekers could follow them eventually

About somewonderland

While sometimes world may seem grey, in twilight's grey all the colors are hidden. Learning to find those colors is like making a collage from many and many scraps - it may seem hard, pieces might not fit at the first glance, but that scraps come together in the end. If you enjoy what you find, don't be shy.

Oh I love the sound of that game… a kind of grown-up Hide 'n Seek, except that I doubt I'd do very well with it. I'm a good 'hider', but not very good at the 'seeking' bit. I'd love to see it played in the forest though! By the way, I love your location!! "Where the iron wolf howls" Jurgis has the iron wolf as his desktop wallpaper. It's very special to him 🙂

I'd say it's a hide 'n seek version for more for like early teenage – too old to play regular version, but too little not to play at all 😉 Ah, good ol' times 🙂
